Scrivere a voce alta: le lettere versificate dei soldati contadini romeni

This paper aims to present the case, in many ways surprising, of the versified letters of the Romanian peasant soldiers, built according to the metrics, style and structures of traditional oral poetry. Born on the border between oral and writing, the versified letter is one of the main strategies put in place by young Romanian peasants, barely literate, to overcome the almost insurmountable distance that separated, for them, the world of oral traditions, their own world from which they had been brutally torn, and the world of writing.
