Abstract
Fosco Maraini, a writer, anthropologist, photographer, poet and traveler, devoted much of his life to Asian cultures. Between the 40’s and 50’s he worked in a huge literary and photography project on the Italian South, "Nostro Sud", which remained unfinished. This paper describes the image of the Italy emerging from work, as well as it analyzes the position of Maraini towards the coeval reflections on the ‘Southern question’ (from Carlo Levi and Rocco Scotellaro to Ernesto de Martino), as well as his ideas on travel and photography as tools for anthropological reflection.File in questo prodotto:
