The article focuses on the six historical sources listed by Morante at the end of History. A novel (1974). The exploration of the author’s archives (the manuscripts of the novel along with the books with her annotations which she used for writing it) provides a valuable perpective for studying the narrative stragegies set forth by Morante to insert History into her novel. Based on this analysis, a reflection on Morante’s “philosophy of history” will be proposed, in order to explain why she decided to “fictionalize” History and to “historicize” her novel.

Abstract
The article focuses on the six historical sources listed by Morante at the end of History. A novel (1974). The exploration of the author’s archives (the manuscripts of the novel along with the books with her annotations which she used for writing it) provides a valuable perpective for studying the narrative stragegies set forth by Morante to insert History into her novel. Based on this analysis, a reflection on Morante’s “philosophy of history” will be proposed, in order to explain why she decided to “fictionalize” History and to “historicize” her novel.File in questo prodotto:
