Immagini per «muover divozione» a Venezia all'inizio del Quattrocento

In this publication, I have shed light on socio-religious phenomena connected to the rise of the Devotio Moderna in Venice at the beginning of the 15th century by examining literary sources and archival documents in conjunction with a corpus of panel paintings destined for devotional practices performed in private, domestic environments. I also linked the dissemination of new spiritual patterns in the city to the rise of the Dominican Order of Penitence, in particular, thanks to the preachings of Tommaso Caffarini and Giovanni Dominici.
