This article is a structural and stylistic analysis of 39th Orlando furioso’s canto. In this canto there’s a fundamental and crucial turning-point of poem’s plot, because it contains the resolution of one of the most important themes of the poem: Orlando’s madness. First the article examines the great narrative partitions, than the function and the interaction between the characters, the point of view and narrative passages technique, the temporal structures, the main stylistic phenomenons. Analisis results are related with canto’s position and function in the poem, in order to its progressive resolution from romance to epic.
