Abstract

The study submitted provides an in-depth analysis of the option of algorithmic modeling solutions to extend the possibilities provided by information modeling to Performance Based Building Design Dissemination in engineering processes of information modelling has resulted in a large increase in the development of production for the building digitization protocols. This activity complements the research and development activities about performance based building design started in the Sixties. However, the information systems solutions high potential in comparison to the actual use of them show the need for developing a research project aiming at creating digital model simulating the aspects dealing with performance based building design while stating the hierarchical system classification. The work undertaken is checking out whether it is possible to monitor requirements and performance of a building system, or a part of it, by using information models and implementing algorithms aimed at identify the system performance taking as a starting point the requirements of the technical elements composing it. At this stage the purpose is assessing the requirements of the spatial elements composing the building structure by mapping the elements contributing on performance and by simulating the system behavior with regard to a specific requirement. The results obtained show how the information technology high potential in conjunction with the maturity of PBBD offer the opportunity of setting the technological design options by algorithmic modeling and of significantly increasing the engineering processes quality.
