A new bronze axe from Cesiomagg iore (Belluno). Typ ological classification, chemical and isotopic results - We report the found of a new bronze axe from Cesiomaggiore, in the Belluno area. This sporadic found, at about 1000 m asl, is chronologically dated to the transition between the final Bronze age and the ancient Iron age. It may be classified between the latest types of Ponte San Giovanni axes and the Aldeno axes with upper wings. The axe belongs to a wider region distinguished by mountain settlement adaptations including bronze hoards and other sporadic discoveries. The new Cesiomaggiore axe should be located on the connecting route from the Belluno Dolomites, through Primiero, to the Trentino interland. The comparison between chemical and isotopic results on the new bronze axe and the data coming out from the current project on Copper in the Alps seems to be an interesting element for metal circulation hypotheses and knowledge.
