The essay focuses on the peculiar case of the praetor who judged pronouncing the tria verba during the dies nefasti. First of all, the research investigates the use of do, dico, addico within the legis actiones and, subsequently, the activity of fari in relation to the concept of fas. According to the results thus achieved, the pax deorum is taken into account to be conceived as a contract between deities and humans based on the divine fari. Lastly, the paper analyses the sanction of impietas as opposed to the status of sacredness, emphasising their affinities and differences. Upon consideration of all these elements, the article assumes that the prohibition to use the tria verba during the dies nefasti concerned the preservation of a fair equilibrium between gods and humans.
