Progetti di sviluppo e trasformazioni territoriali: l'esempio di una zona umida saheliana (Camerun)

Development projects and territorial results: an example from Sahelian wetlands (Cameroon). – Starting from the fieldwork findings, we have introduced the main factors showing territorial changes in Maga. The area is located within a large floodplain close to the Logone River (Grand Yayré). In particular, we have analyzed the effects of external development projects (the irrigated rice cultivation SEMRY, specifically) and the locally developed responses. We have highlighted what are currently the main problems to deal with, as the precariousness of the hydraulic defense works (Maga dam, embankment along the Logone), then the impacts that may arise due to the possible beginning of the oil exploitation.
