Abstract

In 1930 the 'Lombard Treasure' suddenly appeared in art market. The article shows how this forgery was the result of the increased interest of national origins, of quality of publication of archaeological excavation, the developing of interest in Barbarian jewellery, and individual career for a Museum keeper. Although it's clear that without nationalist support and personal credibility fake objects never were in the position nor to be appealing not to be thought as authentic.
