Between 2009 and 2011, University of Padua carried out the research project "Archeology of the wool: breeding, production and trade in the Roman Cisalpine ", aimed at the study of archaeological marks of textile production in Veneto Region and in Province of Brescia in Roman Age. Within the project – till now continued with a PhD – a relational database has been created with the software SQLite / SpatiaLite for storing and managing qualitative and quantitative attributes of tools related to textile activities (loom weights, spindle whorls, spindles, distaffs, hooks, spools, shears). After a brief description of the research project, this paper aims to show the potential of the SQLite / SpatiaLite database for the management of archaeological data, emphasizing how the software portability is one of the most useful and appreciated advantages by archaeologists. In particular will be described the needs that led to the choice of this solution, the technical specifications of the system, pros and cons of using this RDBMS in archeology and some case studies that highlight opportunities and results provided by the software and by the database.

Abstract
In particular will be described the needs that led to the choice of this solution, the technical specifications of the system, pros and cons of using this RDBMS in archeology and some case studies that highlight opportunities and results provided by the software and by the database.Pubblicazioni consigliate
