The possibility of predicting the thermo-mechanical behaviour of the joints during the welding process has always been a great objective by researchers and engi- neers. The main benefits include less waste of resources and lower costs of process parameters setting. However, a good reliability of the models is only possible if all the complex physical, metallurgical and mechanical phe- nomena are examined. In this work, a numerical model for the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding of the alumin- ium alloy AA 6082-T6 is developed with the aim of de- termining the thermal fields and phase transformations induced by the source as a function of time. The source parameters were calibrated using temperature measure- ments obtained with different thermocouples positioned at various distances from the axis of the molten zone and the microstructural evolution has been modelled by the Grong’s equation. The results predicted by the model were then compared with the experimental values.

Abstract
The results predicted by the model were then compared with the experimental values.Pubblicazioni consigliate
