The paper focuses on identification of tectonic setting of large slope instabilities in the Giudicarie valley (Northern Italy), as it strongly influences the slope evolution and may be considered one of the main causes of the onset of current instability phenomenon. ASdvancved DInSAR techniques were applied to ERS and ENVISAT satellite radar images to detect displacement areas related to geological structural elements. Results confirm the ability of these technique to investigate the landslide processes and to relate them to the tectonic setting.

Abstract

The paper focuses on identification of tectonic setting of large slope instabilities in the Giudicarie valley (Northern Italy), as it strongly influences the slope evolution and may be considered one of the main causes of the onset of current instability phenomenon. ASdvancved DInSAR techniques were applied to ERS and ENVISAT satellite radar images to detect displacement areas related to geological structural elements. Results confirm the ability of these technique to investigate the landslide processes and to relate them to the tectonic setting.
