Critical editors have in many ways emended the text of Vitruvius uti medicis et musicis et de venarum rythmo et ad pedum motus (1.15). Actually, the text handed down by the manuscript tradition in reality is not corrupt: it perfectly exemplifies the Vitruvian thought on the relationship between theoretical knowledge and practical exercise of the arts.
