The increasing complexity of urban regions and the lack of green areas in the neighbourhoods have turned the cities less and less child-friendly. In order to face locally this situations, in the nursery school “J. Mirò” in Padua, was proposed the project “Piccoli passi di Agenda 21” which promoted a participatory planning experience for children focused on their territory. In particular, the pupils decided to focus on the green area of the school and, thanks to the support of teachers, parents, school staff and local administration, they had the opportunity to be real protagonists of the improvements of the school garden. This experience was part of a bigger project on education for sustainable development called “Agenda 21 at school” and represent a real good practice on teaching geography because it contributes towards children to take part and contribute enthusiastically to the future discussions related to their territory.

Abstract
The increasing complexity of urban regions and the lack of green areas in the neighbourhoods have turned the cities less and less child-friendly. In order to face locally this situations, in the nursery school “J. Mirò” in Padua, was proposed the project “Piccoli passi di Agenda 21” which promoted a participatory planning experience for children focused on their territory. In particular, the pupils decided to focus on the green area of the school and, thanks to the support of teachers, parents, school staff and local administration, they had the opportunity to be real protagonists of the improvements of the school garden. This experience was part of a bigger project on education for sustainable development called “Agenda 21 at school” and represent a real good practice on teaching geography because it contributes towards children to take part and contribute enthusiastically to the future discussions related to their territory.Pubblicazioni consigliate
