Aim of the work was the development of a set of innovative skis presenting an asymmetric edge profile: by means of an integrated numerical-experimental approach, the two skis were designed to obtain the same curve radius on the snow with different edging angles, as observed from field measurements on expert skiers. Three prototypes AS1, AS2 and AS3 were compared to the same reference symmetric ski RB1 during field tests with expert skiers: the skiing loads normal to the foot were measured and compared to the subjective evaluations in order to estimate the increase of load symmetry between inner and outer ski in turning. Testing of ski on a special bench equipped with a set of instrumented load cells revealed that the asymmetric prototype AS3 was able to produce the same load profile when loaded at different inner and outer leg edge angles.
