The purpose of this study is to identify an evaluate tools used for control of functional/spatial quality in the building construction process. Quality in building construction - which is defined as " the degree to which a completed structure's performance meets the requirements which that structure's conception, design, production, construction and management were intended to meet" - is divided into the following aspects: technical quality, when reference is made to the technological sub-system; environmental quality, when reference is made to the environmental sub-system; functional/spatial quality when reference is made to the spatial sub-system. In particular, functional/spatial quality is defined as the degree to which the building complex and its component parts meet requirements relative to use of available space, safety, and suitability to the activities of users. Among the tools which are designed to verify functional /spatial qualitu, particular emphasis is placed on an analysis of the possible fields of application of the full-scale model in light of the experience gained with this type of model in Europe and Italy over the past few years.
