The effects of sodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA) on growth of three benthic Tunicata (Clavelina lepadiformis, Phallusia ingeria and Botryllus schlosseri) were tested by means of short and long term experiments. Concentrations of NTA up to 10 mg/l were used. A dose of cadmium and mercury chloride with toxic but not lethal effects was determined and interaction between metal and NTA was tested at the following molar ratios Me-NTA, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. The results show the absence of toxicity by NTA and the lack of interaction of NTA with the toxic heavy metal.

Abstract
The effects of sodium nitrilotriacetate (NTA) on growth of three benthic Tunicata (Clavelina lepadiformis, Phallusia ingeria and Botryllus schlosseri) were tested by means of short and long term experiments. Concentrations of NTA up to 10 mg/l were used. A dose of cadmium and mercury chloride with toxic but not lethal effects was determined and interaction between metal and NTA was tested at the following molar ratios Me-NTA, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. The results show the absence of toxicity by NTA and the lack of interaction of NTA with the toxic heavy metal.File in questo prodotto:
