Being externally applied composite reinforcements intended to work in tension and being their bond to quasi-brittle substrates, as concrete and masonry, a critical issue, shear tests are the most common way to locally investigate the bond behaviour. Despite the criticality of this issue, no test specifications are currently available to design and perform this type of test. Aimed at giving a contribution about this point, the main results of an experimental campaign that involves EB FRP and SRP materials glued to solid clay bricks are herein presented. Tests have been focused on the comparison of test set-ups, namely Single-Lap and Double-lap, and the comparison of various types of test specimens, which differ in details like the presence or absence of reinforcement end anchorage or the reinforcement connection to the test machine.
