study is conducted on rolled sheets of the UNS S 32750, superduplex stainless steel. Also, a microstructural study is carried out to evaluate the austenite amount in the weld beads as a function of the working parameters. Further, the welded joints are analyzed in terms of mechanical behavior and of corrosion and stress-corrosion resistance. Both penetration and autogenous welding tests are performed by means of a CW CO2 laser source, using He as the shielding gas. Based on the results, it is indicated that the laser welding process can lead to the production of superduplex steels joints, having an acceptable austenite to ferrite ratio and, consequently, good technological, corrosion-resistance and in-service properties.

Abstract

study is conducted on rolled sheets of the UNS S 32750, superduplex stainless steel.
