A conformational analysis was performed on an isolated chain of a tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropene copolymer. The minimum of the conformational energy corresponds to a helix-like chain containing planar zig-zag sequences next to the [BOND]CF3 group. A disordered structural model based on a hexagonal packing of the chains was tested by comparing the corresponding calculated X-ray diffraction pattern with the experimental one.
