Research in career development for people with intellectual disability is now twofold. On one hand there is the need to verify the relevance of theoretical models in describing factors affecting career development in persons with different disabilities. On the other hand for different disabilities there is the need to characterize specific profiles of development and organization of knowledge about psychological constructs relevant for career development. From the analysis of ten young adults with either mild or moderate intellectual disability, specific strengths and weaknesses have been observed both at cognitive, socio-relational and professional level. Data collected support the usefulness of a multidimensional, theoretically based career assessment in persons with intellectual disability.

Abstract
Research in career development for people with intellectual disability is now twofold. On one hand there is the need to verify the relevance of theoretical models in describing factors affecting career development in persons with different disabilities. On the other hand for different disabilities there is the need to characterize specific profiles of development and organization of knowledge about psychological constructs relevant for career development. From the analysis of ten young adults with either mild or moderate intellectual disability, specific strengths and weaknesses have been observed both at cognitive, socio-relational and professional level. Data collected support the usefulness of a multidimensional, theoretically based career assessment in persons with intellectual disability.Pubblicazioni consigliate
