The population of Chamelea gallina (Mollusca, Bivalvia) was studied throughout a year in two sites of the Chioggia maritime district, along the North-western coast of the Adriatic. Condition and gonad indices and energy content were monthly assessed in clams. Relationships between gametogenic cycle and reserve storage were highlighted, as well as the role of environmental features, temperature in particular.
