The chemical interactions between aluminium(III) and two pyridinic ligands of possible biological relevance, 2-hydroxynicotinic acid (HNic) and 3 hydroxypicolinic acid (HPic), in aqueous 0.6 m (Na)Cl at 25 °C, have been investigated by means of potentiometric titrations. In both cases only mononuclear complexes and their deprotonation products are formed. The qualitative and quantitative results obtained have been confirmed in part by UV-spectrophotometry and 1H NMR spectroscopy.
