The Wessex bioprosthesis is a glutaraldehyde-treated porcine xenograft introduced in clinical setting in 1982. Despite good results in medium-term follow-up,[1]sudden cusp prolapse due to fracture of the flexible Delrin stent has been reported in 2 cases.[2]This led to the withdrawal of the device from the market. We add 3 further examples of this complication, which all occurred in 1990.
