The evolution of radio technology Beyond 3G (B3G) is strongly related to the efficient use of the radio links. The way in which it could be done depends on many factors, as the time varying characteristic of the radio channels and the fact that they differ terminal by terminal. Then, the usual seven layer OSI model proposed for wired data transmissions shows several limits when we try to reach the channel capacity in B3G systems. In this paper we propose a possible cross layering approach that may open the way to innovative solutions for the next genration of wireless systems.

Abstract
The evolution of radio technology Beyond 3G (B3G) is strongly related to the efficient use of the radio links. The way in which it could be done depends on many factors, as the time varying characteristic of the radio channels and the fact that they differ terminal by terminal. Then, the usual seven layer OSI model proposed for wired data transmissions shows several limits when we try to reach the channel capacity in B3G systems. In this paper we propose a possible cross layering approach that may open the way to innovative solutions for the next genration of wireless systems.File in questo prodotto:
