Over the past two decades, the literature has revealed the increasing complexity of the role of purchasing and its growing importance within strategy. Purchasing personnel are now required to incorporate new responsibilities within their traditional role, those of managing increasingly closer and more integrated relationships with suppliers. Research has shown that performance measurement systems (PMS) could play an important role in supporting managerial activities and even become a strategic weapon in developing and implementing purchasing strategies. Key dimensions characterising purchasing performance measurement are examined in three main areas. The framework, based on these dimensions, is applied in order to analyse and compare the models specifically designed to measure purchasing performances.

Abstract
Over the past two decades, the literature has revealed the increasing complexity of the role of purchasing and its growing importance within strategy. Purchasing personnel are now required to incorporate new responsibilities within their traditional role, those of managing increasingly closer and more integrated relationships with suppliers. Research has shown that performance measurement systems (PMS) could play an important role in supporting managerial activities and even become a strategic weapon in developing and implementing purchasing strategies. Key dimensions characterising purchasing performance measurement are examined in three main areas. The framework, based on these dimensions, is applied in order to analyse and compare the models specifically designed to measure purchasing performances.Pubblicazioni consigliate
