Martensitic Stainless steels have good mechanical properties but low corrosion resistance. The chemical composition (0.2% C, 1.5% Mo and 1% Ni) and heat treatment of a new grade VAL2MON have been optimised in order to improve corrosion resistance and toughness. The obtained grade may be used as to produce self drilling and tapping screws and for food manufacturing and packaging.
