Abstract

Receivers for Direct-Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) system that perform joint space-time processing (two dimensional receivers) can be realized using a Beamformer- Rake structure. We extend classical blind beamforming algorithms for CDMA receivers, based on Signal to Noise plus Interference Ratio (SINR) maximization criterium, in order to give some type of robustness against estimation mismatches. Various Robust Adaptive Beamforming (RAB) methods are compared with classical algorithms. A new low complexity RAB algorithm based on convex optimization is also derived. The paper outline that RAB algorithms perform better than the standard algorithm especially in high dispersive time-varying channel and in presence of high interferers.
