This report concerns the study of the mechanisms of interaction among the constituent materials of brick-block masonry structural elements reinforced by reinforced steel bars. In reinforced masonry (r.m.) the rebars are embedded both in horizontal mortar joints and in grouted vertical perforations of the blocks. Therefore, the building system and the shape of the block have to be designed properly, to provide structural effectiveness and economic advantages.

Abstract
