This work discusses the effects of frequency offset between the receiver and transmitter clocks in fractionally spaced equalisation. In particular some design criteria are proposed, in order to compensate for such impairment. The analysis developed is confirmed by numerical simulations performed on a fractionally spaced equaliser for a hard disk read channel.

Abstract
