The paper focuses on the critical topics of the global agricultural geography. The main issue concerns the relation between agriculture and development. The chapter dials with some of the most strategic issues in which agriculture is involved: food security stategies, land grabbing projects, multifunctional approaches to agriculture, community based developed projects and the new "era" of great irrigation schemes.
