Amphiphilic PEG derivatives with different structure and size have been investigated for preparation of micelles for amphotericin-B delivery. The PEG5kDa-cholanic based formulation was the best performing polymer as it displayed low toxicity, high amphotericin-B loading, high stability, and prolonged in vivo drug permanence. The biopharmaceutical performance of this formulation was superior to the positive control Fungizone.

Abstract

Amphiphilic PEG derivatives with different structure and size have been investigated for preparation of micelles for amphotericin-B delivery. The PEG5kDa-cholanic based formulation was the best performing polymer as it displayed low toxicity, high amphotericin-B loading, high stability, and prolonged in vivo drug permanence. The biopharmaceutical performance of this formulation was superior to the positive control Fungizone.
