The understanding of the factors affecting the energy performance of office buildings is essential for a better evaluation of the energy conservation potential of a design option. Electric lighting may significantly contribute to the overall energy consumption, therefore it must be considered in predicting the efficiency of an energy conservation measure such as window films. A detailed model is built up combining thermal and lighting aspects to analyze the energy performance of a high rise office building in Padova, Italy. The adopted model takes advantage of the data made available by a monitoring campaign for its validation. Predicted results have been verified to match well with the real energy usages with reference to the pre intervention status. Then, the energy performance of window films has been simulated by means of the calibrated base case model.
