The paper presents the results of two studies conducted on university student samples which contribute to the Italian adaptation and validation of the Internal (IMS) and External (EMS) Motivation Scale to Respond Without Prejudice (Plant e Devine, 1998). The confirmatory factor analyses support the two-factor structure of the scale and the independence of the two dimensions. The scale turns out to be reliable and valid. The correlations between IMS, EMS, and other constructs considered (blatant and subtle prejudice, authoritarianism, intergroup anxiety and intergroup contact, political orientation, social desirability) are consistent with the research hypotheses.

Abstract
The paper presents the results of two studies conducted on university student samples which contribute to the Italian adaptation and validation of the Internal (IMS) and External (EMS) Motivation Scale to Respond Without Prejudice (Plant e Devine, 1998). The confirmatory factor analyses support the two-factor structure of the scale and the independence of the two dimensions. The scale turns out to be reliable and valid. The correlations between IMS, EMS, and other constructs considered (blatant and subtle prejudice, authoritarianism, intergroup anxiety and intergroup contact, political orientation, social desirability) are consistent with the research hypotheses.Pubblicazioni consigliate
