The paper describes a procedure for the analysis and the design of surface magnet generators directly coupled to the wind turbine. Such procedure is based on the adoption of FEM analyses applied to a simplified geometrical configuration, in order to define a circuit model of the machine to be implemented in a Matlab-Simulink code. By this code, the generator performances can be evaluated for different values of the electromagnetic parameters and for different operating conditions to achieve predefined design objectives . The analysis has been focused on two different stator configurations of a 32-poles machine, by varying the magnet and the stator teeth widths. The results of a parametric analysis are presented, assuming the supply of a resistive load by a rectifier circuit.
