In this paper the authors look at the use of self, peer and tutor assessment of intercultural communicative competence, as defined by Byram (1997) in the context of online intercultural exchanges in English language courses at the university of Padova. The paper begins by reviewing the literature on CMC, in particular online intercultural exchange and its role in the development of ICC. It then discusses some issues in the assessment of ICC before looking at how the European Language Portfolio has been used for self, peer and tutor assessment of ICC within the constraints of a particular teaching context.

Abstract
In this paper the authors look at the use of self, peer and tutor assessment of intercultural communicative competence, as defined by Byram (1997) in the context of online intercultural exchanges in English language courses at the university of Padova. The paper begins by reviewing the literature on CMC, in particular online intercultural exchange and its role in the development of ICC. It then discusses some issues in the assessment of ICC before looking at how the European Language Portfolio has been used for self, peer and tutor assessment of ICC within the constraints of a particular teaching context.File in questo prodotto:
