The University of Padua has organized a thorough research on its own students’ preference elicitation for new services that the University itself, the guest city and the other local authorities could offer in order to ease students’ life before and during university lifetime and even after graduation. The empirical research was based on a survey where students themselves indicated their preferences for services. In this note we present the statistical methodology for service ranking and students’ preferences for guidance services that could help students in choosing their university study programme, in tutorship, also related to professional guidance during their university studies, and career guidance after graduation. The method we adopted showed its appropriateness for service ranking.

Abstract

The University of Padua has organized a thorough research on its own students’ preference elicitation for new services that the University itself, the guest city and the other local authorities could offer in order to ease students’ life before and during university lifetime and even after graduation. The empirical research was based on a survey where students themselves indicated their preferences for services. In this note we present the statistical methodology for service ranking and students’ preferences for guidance services that could help students in choosing their university study programme, in tutorship, also related to professional guidance during their university studies, and career guidance after graduation. The method we adopted showed its appropriateness for service ranking.
