The aim of my paper is to investigate the problem of the relationship between common good and republic (respublica) in Leibniz’ political philosophy. For Leibniz common good is not reducible to the reference to authority, grounded in the global structure of reality: all things tend to common good. But such a notion is not analysed in a substantialist way. The common good feels the effects of this “progress in infinity”, and shows therefore an intrinsic dynamism. Leibniz’ republic aims at reciprocity between “own” and “other”: the coimplication between “individual” and “common” is not however meant statically, but taking into account the never-ending mutation of the constitutional typologies, and the constant development of knowledge.

Abstract
The aim of my paper is to investigate the problem of the relationship between common good and republic (respublica) in Leibniz’ political philosophy. For Leibniz common good is not reducible to the reference to authority, grounded in the global structure of reality: all things tend to common good. But such a notion is not analysed in a substantialist way. The common good feels the effects of this “progress in infinity”, and shows therefore an intrinsic dynamism. Leibniz’ republic aims at reciprocity between “own” and “other”: the coimplication between “individual” and “common” is not however meant statically, but taking into account the never-ending mutation of the constitutional typologies, and the constant development of knowledge.Pubblicazioni consigliate
