In this paper, we give analogues of the local uncertainty inequalities on R^n for stratified nilpotent Lie groups, connected with the spectral analysis of a given homogeneous sublaplacian. A fully detailed proof is given for step-two groups, and indications are given for the proof in the general case. Further, as in the case of R^n , we shall deduce an analogue of the Heisenberg-Pauli uncertainty inequality.
