The International Conference on Multifunctions of Wetland Systems was held in June 26–29, 2007, at Legnaro-Padova, Italy. More than 200 scientists from all over the world participated in this conference that had sessions dedicated to key note lectures and thematic sessions on ‘‘Technical solution for water treatment,’’ ‘‘Vegetation management and agriculture,’’ ‘‘Water reuse and energy production,’’ ‘‘Environment, biodiversity, and land- scape,’’ and ‘‘Long-term experiences, economic aspects, and planning.’’ The Symposium pro- vided a unique opportunity for scientists work- ing on various aspects of wetland ecosystems to exchange knowledge, information, and ideas with the aim of improving the understanding of relevant processes and structures, and ultimately enhancing our capacity to manage these systems.
