This essay regards a formative research on a pilot episode of a cartoon (Lello & Lella) produced by the Group Alcuni of Treviso (IT), developed by a group of young researchers of the Department of Science Education of the University of Padua, coordinated by L. Messina. The research instruments, designed for target 6-9 years, have allowed us to verify children understanding and appreciation of the cartoon and, on this basis, to define the pre-production of the cartoon.
