A study on the dynamic behavior of a marble monument is reported here. The study is based on finite element analyses in which the opening and sliding of joints between the marble blocks were modeled. The study considers different load conditions and stiffness properties of the marble. The numerical results are compared and design recommendations on the strengthening and retrofit of the monument are proposed.
