An active power filter is presented which uses an impressed current converter and an inductive-capacitive energy storage circuit, also including a switching section. This solution allows an independent choice of the converter configuration and of the kind of storage system which, in the case being considered, is mainly capacitive. The theory of operation is analyzed, together with control strategy and design criteria. Experimental results are reported.

Abstract
