In 2005, the Department of Anatomy of Padova organized a Master in Manual Therapy and Musculo-Skeletal Rehabilitation planned for 25 physiotherapists. It lasts for 2 years and is organized in two parts: basic sciences (topographic and radiological anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology, neurology, orthopaedics and traumatology, physiopathology, clinical psychology, rheumatology, and pharmacology: lectures and practical activities on models) and specific disciplines (methodology of research in rehabilitation, logic and clinical line of argument, methods and surface anatomy, manipulative therapy, and integrated rehabilitation: lessons, practical sessions, training on patients, tutorials, and seminars). The structure of the master’s degree conforms to the educational standards of the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapists. The teachers for basic sciences are from the School of Medicine, and the teachers for the specific disciplines are physiotherapists from Italy with two from Europe. The master’s program has received 60 applications and 25 physiotherapists have been selected. At the end of the first year, the attendees reported ‘‘very satisfied’’ (20/25) and ‘‘satisfied’’ (5/25).
