An aggregated-scale behaviour-model is presented describing the morphological interaction between a tidal lagoon or basin and its adjacent coastal environment, including the ebb-tidal delta. While the model is based on general sediment transport equations, the behavioural aspect concerns the a-priori assumption that the equilibrium state of each distinguished element of the system is known or at least can be defined. Here, we are able to rely on a vast body of reported experience for each of these system elements. The model formulation further includes an earlier concept regarding the response of individual tidal system elements to a disturbance from their dynamic equilibrium state. The importance of the present work lies in the extension of the earlier work by including interactions with the ebb-tidal delta and the directly adjacent coast through a relatively more important role of the wave forcing. Results for schematised and real cases are discussed
