The part of Hegel's Philosophy of Nature devoted to the exposition of colour is not simply a descrption of Goethe's doctrine. It is a radical re.intepretation of it. Although Hegel elaborated a complex theory of the organism which could have provided a conceptual foundation for the comprehension of physiological colour he treats it as an essential physical phenomenon.
