This paper considers the role of information and communication systems in the achievment of World Class Manufacturing. To reduce variability and complexity there is a need for process simplification, interfunctional integration and cooperation with other actors in the value chain. To explain the importance of Information Technology in obtaining WCM policies, examples are taken from manufacturing companies.

Abstract
