Health effects of PM10 have been estimated on urban population of Vicenza (Italy) over the period 2002-2005 taking into account most recent epidemiological evidences. Large adverse effects attributable to short-term and long-term exposure to particulate matter have been quantified: an average chronic mortality of 17% (all causes, excluding accidents, age>30, PM2.5>10 μg/m3) with 178 deaths a year and a short-term mortality of 1.9-2.3% (all causes, excluding accidents, age>1, PM10>20 μg/m3) with 20.0-23.5 deaths a year, were estimated. The health impact evaluated for Vicenza appears markedly higher than figures emerging from main Italian and European studies, mainly due to the higher exposure levels of PM10 observed in Vicenza in the period 2002-2005 (55.4 μg/m3).

Abstract
The health impact evaluated for Vicenza appears markedly higher than figures emerging from main Italian and European studies, mainly due to the higher exposure levels of PM10 observed in Vicenza in the period 2002-2005 (55.4 μg/m3).Pubblicazioni consigliate
