Hennebique system was largely spread in Europe for reinforced concrete constructions such as frames, beams and slabs, silos, bridges and footbridges, starting from 1892. In Italy the system was adopted by Ing. Porcheddu Society, of Torino, which held the agency for Italy of Hennebique copyright, starting from 1896. The structural typologies for r/c bridges were mainly girder bridges and arch bridges. Many are the bridges built in Italy. From the others must be remembered the Carlo Emanuele I bridge, over Dora river in Torino (1902), the bridge over Bormida river near Millesimo (Savona) (1902), the bridge over Astico near Calvene (Vicenza) (1907) and Risorgimento bridge over Tevere river in Rome (1911) with a span of 100 m. Abstract

It must be underlined the high degree of innovation introduced by the system and its applications in the technology of reinforced concrete constructions as well as in the analysis and design of such structures.
